Maintenance

GENIE watches are entirely manufactured in Switzerland, according to the strictest Swiss watchmaking quality standards. Our timepieces are made from top quality materials. No watch leaves our Swiss headquarters without quality checks involving the use of the latest technology. If treated with care, looked after correctly and regularly maintained, your GENIE will prove to be a life-long companion to you.

You’ll get the most joy out of your GENIE when you have it on your wrist.
However, should you ever take it off, then it should preferably be kept in a dry, not too warm place.

Remove dirt and fingerprints using a soft cloth or a soft brush and possibly a little soap.

Please contact the specialists in one of our service centers if you would like your watch’s case, bezel or strap to be polished.

We recommend to clean the metal bracelet periodically using a toothbrush and liquid soap, rinse it under a gentle, thin stream of water and dry it with an absorbent cloth.

The watch case can be cleaned with a humid cloth (or gently rinsed when the model is intended for aquatic activities) and shall be dried as well.

After contact with seawater, always rinse your watch with fresh water.

Do not use pushers in the water.

Even if your watch is water resistant, to avoid water penetration which could damage the movement it is imperative not to use pushers when the watch is in contact with water.

Also check that the crown is pushed in (and screwed in where relevant) against the case of your watch.

Avoid leaving your watch close to equipment that can produce strong magnetic fields such as speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, or magnets on bags or boxes, etc as these may affect the performance of your watch.

We also recommend that you remove your watch when you go through the body scanner at the airport.

Chemicals, cosmetics
Avoid contact with solvents, detergents, fragrances or cosmetics as they are likely to affect the coating on the bracelet or case, as well as damaging the gaskets that ensure the water resistance.

Leather straps
Like all leather objects (shoes, bags, etc…) leather straps need to be cared for to maintain their beauty in the long term. Protect leather straps from water, perspiration, damp, grease, perfume, cosmetics or chemicals, and avoid excessive exposure to the sun. If the leather is splashed, absorb the liquid immediately with a cloth.

Inspection of water resistance
A watch’s water resistance is not permanent. It can be reduced by an impact or by natural wear of the gaskets. After the two-year warranty period, we recommend an inspection once a year, particularly before taking holidays by the sea. This inspection can be carried out by GENIE certified service centers, which will also be able to restore your watch’s water resistance if necessary.

Maintenance services
Unlike many mechanical instruments, your watch operates continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To guarantee constant accuracy, the movements components need to be oiled and perfectly clean.

The quality of the oil declines over time, leading to slight friction and deposits which can affect the watch’s precision. That is why GENIE recommends carrying out a service every four to five years, to clean and replace the oil and worn components.

To guarantee work in line with our quality standards, it is vital to have the watch serviced by a GENIE-certified watchmaker.

Any work carried out by a non-authorized third party will void the GENIE warranty

Batteries
Battery life is generally between two and five years. It depends on the type of watch and the amount of energy required by its various functions.

Battery replacement
To avoid the risk of any leakage which could damage the movement, we recommend not leaving a completely discharged battery in your watch.

To guarantee work in line with our quality standards, it is vital to have the battery replaced by a GENIE-certified watchmaker, who will also be able to check and restore your watch’s water resistance.

Any work carried out by a non-authorized third party will void the GENIE warranty

International Warranty

GENIE timepieces are manufactured and tested according to Swiss quality standard inspections and procedures before released to our sales shops.

GENIE have established a global guarantee system with a global warranty certificate, which offers GENIE customers an “International Warranty” valid for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase to the original consumer/purchaser against breakage or malfunction under normal use due to defects in material or workmanship. It includes all moving components and craftsmanship of the Swiss movement and watchcase. We will repair, or, at our option, replace any defective GENIE watch with the same or a comparable model.

The GENIE International Warranty covering a GENIE wristwatch purchased anywhere in the world from an authorized GENIE dealer will be honored by every official GENIE dealer.

The warranty will become null and void if the timepiece is misused, abused, tampered with or taken apart, or if the timepiece is repaired by an unauthorized repair center. The warranty does not cover the watch strap, bracelet, crystal, or battery. The warranty does not cover any incidental; consequential or intentional damage caused to the watch. GENIE watches must be repaired by an authorized dealer or the warranty is void.

For service work that is not covered under this warranty, the service center may perform the services you request for a charge dependent on watch style and type of work requested. These charges are subject to change. Such charges will be notified and agreed by you prior to performing the services.
